My first Sample Cigar
I remember my first sample cigar was with my grandfather at his house. Granted he never said that’s what it was but it was in more ways than one. See, my grandfather was a true cigar smoker and by this I mean he collected cigars from all over the world. He even had his friends collect them for him and send them over, companies even tried getting him hooked by sending him a sampler. I remember asking him once why he had so many.
“I like to look at them and picture myself there.”
Wow, this was definitely different from collecting spoons or dirt from other countries. But when I began thinking about it this actually made more sense then collecting a spoon that was from say Ohio or Australia. How can you really say it was from there? Sure, the spoon was bought there but that’s it. Cigars were actually made in the countries he would buy them in. These cigars had a history to the place, a tie even. After thinking about it like this I looked around the room eyeing certain countries and taking a look at what they looked like, my eye got hooked on one. It was a place I always wanted to visit.
“Try it,” he said with a grin. “You’ll like it, I did.”
